Shubman Gill & Siraj’s Bazball Banter Lights Up Slow Lord’s Test
England’s much-hyped Bazball approach seemed to take a backseat on the first day of the Lord’s Test against India, much to the amusement of the Indian team. Instead of the aggressive, high-octane style expected, England opted for a more traditional, cautious approach.
Siraj’s Playful Prodding: “Where’s the Bazball?”
Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj, known for his on-field chatter, couldn’t resist a few playful digs at the English batsmen. He was overheard teasing Joe Root, saying, “Baz, baz, bazball. Play some Bazball! I want to see Bazball!”
Even the Usually Cool Gill Joins the Fun
Even the typically composed Indian captain, Shubman Gill, joined the banter, lightheartedly prodding the English batsmen, particularly Joe Root and Ollie Pope. “This isn’t entertaining cricket,” Gill quipped. “Welcome to boring Test cricket.” During the second session, England scored only 70 runs at a snail’s pace of 2.91 runs per over.
