Delhi Prevents Flood Risk: Barapulla Drain Cleared After Decades

Delhi residents can breathe a sigh of relief as the city takes proactive steps to prevent a repeat of last year’s flooding. Two long-clogged water bays along the Barapulla drain, one of Delhi’s three major drainage arteries, are now flowing freely.

Decades of Obstruction Removed

This significant improvement comes after the civic authorities and police collaborated to clear decades-old encroachments near the Old Barapulla Bridge. These encroachments had severely restricted water flow, contributing to the city’s vulnerability to flooding.

With the obstructions removed, the Barapulla drain can now handle a significantly higher volume of water, drastically reducing the risk of flooding in the surrounding areas.
