Bihar Voter ID Re-Verification: Supreme Court Recommendations

Getting ready for Bihar’s upcoming election, the Supreme Court weighed in on Thursday, suggesting a simplified approach to voter identification. They recommended accepting three common documents for re-verifying voter identities.

Accepted Documents for Voter Re-Verification

To make the process smoother for voters, the court advised considering the following documents as valid proof of identity:

1. Aadhaar Card

The widely used Aadhaar card, a biometric digital identity, is among the suggested documents.

2. Ration Card

Ration cards, essential for accessing subsidized food supplies, can also serve as acceptable identification.

3. Voter ID Card

Existing Voter ID cards issued by the Election Commission will naturally be considered valid for re-verification.

This recommendation aims to streamline the voter re-verification process and ensure a fair and accurate election in Bihar later this year.
