Ahmedabad Air India Dreamliner Incident: Engines Failed Seconds After Takeoff

A heart-stopping incident occurred on June 12th in Ahmedabad involving an Air India Dreamliner aircraft. A preliminary investigation report from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has revealed that both engines of the Boeing 787-8 aircraft shut down merely seconds after takeoff.

Fuel Cutoff Switches Likely Culprit

The report indicates a critical failure in the fuel supply system. The fuel cutoff switches, responsible for regulating fuel flow to the engines, flipped from the ‘RUN’ position to the ‘CUTOFF’ position within a single second of each other. This abrupt change starved both engines of fuel, causing them to fail.

Investigation Continues

The investigation is still ongoing, and the AAIB is working to determine the root cause of the fuel cutoff switch malfunction. This incident raises serious questions about aviation safety and the reliability of critical aircraft systems. More details are expected as the investigation progresses.
