Bhagwant Mann’s Remarks on PM Modi’s Trips Spark Controversy

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s recent comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign visits have drawn sharp criticism from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The MEA stated that such remarks “do not behove” a person holding a high office like that of Chief Minister.

Mann Questions PM’s Choice of Destinations

During a press conference on Thursday, CM Mann questioned the relevance of some of the countries visited by PM Modi. He jokingly referred to some destinations as “Magnesia,” “Galvesia,” and “Tarvesia,” expressing his confusion about their significance. He further contrasted these with the importance of focusing on India, a nation of 1.4 billion people.

MEA Expresses Displeasure

While the MEA refrained from directly naming CM Mann, their response clearly targeted his statements. They emphasized the importance of respecting the office of the Prime Minister and maintaining decorum in public discourse, particularly concerning matters of international relations.
